OpenAI Replaces CRO Dresser With Wiz Executive Rajic

OpenAI taps former Wiz president Dali Rajic as new chief revenue officer, replacing Denise Dresser after just nine months as executive shake-up continues.

OpenAI has appointed Dali Rajic, the former president and chief operating officer of cybersecurity firm Wiz, as its new chief revenue officer, replacing Denise Dresser after a tenure of just nine months. The announcement, made by OpenAI co-founder and president Greg Brockman in a blog post on August 13, marks the latest in a series of executive departures and reshuffles at the AI lab as it prepares for a potential initial public offering.

Rajic joins from Wiz, which Google acquired for $32 billion earlier this year in the tech giant’s largest-ever acquisition. His hiring comes amid a broader leadership upheaval at OpenAI. Brad Lightcap, the company’s longtime chief operating officer, departed earlier this month to start a new venture. Fidji Simo, who served as CEO of AGI deployment and was effectively the company’s number two executive, stepped down in July. Brockman himself has assumed a larger management role following Simo’s exit.

A Company in Transition

The revolving door at the top of OpenAI reflects the intense pressures facing the company as it scales from a research lab into a global enterprise business. OpenAI now claims more than one billion weekly active users and two million business customers, yet executives have acknowledged both privately and publicly that the company has not always met its revenue targets.

“Denise has led our revenue organization through a formative period for the business and has worked tirelessly to get the team to where it is today. The way we’re deploying this technology is changing rapidly, and Dali will turn what we’ve learned into repeatable execution as we build out the full system to make AI broadly useful for people and businesses.”

The quote comes from Greg Brockman’s announcement on the OpenAI blog, where he thanked outgoing CRO Denise Dresser for her contributions. Dresser, a former CEO of Slack, was brought in to professionalize OpenAI’s go-to-market operations but departs as part of an ongoing effort to align the leadership team with the company’s next phase.

IPO Preparation and Financial Moves

OpenAI has filed confidentially with the Securities and Exchange Commission ahead of a potential IPO, though the timing remains uncertain. Private companies often seek to stabilize their executive ranks before going public. This week, OpenAI completed a $7 billion employee tender offer, allowing staff to sell equity compensation, which some analysts interpreted as a signal that the public listing may be further off than initially expected.

Rajic’s track record at Zscaler and then Wiz, where he helped drive rapid enterprise sales growth, positions him to tackle the challenges of selling AI tools to Fortune 500 companies at scale. With Anthropic, Google, and open-source alternatives all competing for enterprise AI budgets, OpenAI’s revenue leadership will be critical in determining whether the company can convert its massive consumer base into sustainable business revenue.
