Secretary of State Marco Rubio touted an effort to “bring the International Criminal Court to heel,” direct Lebanon-Israel talks for the first time in close to 30 years, and Trump’s newly announced Hamas disarmament deal. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth pushed for $1.5 trillion in defense spending, while Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent cited record consumer confidence and the Working Families Tax Cuts.
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said TrumpRx has saved Americans $700 million on prescription drugs, with 800 drugs now listed. The meeting came as Trump faces friction with Senate Republicans over the stalled nomination of Todd Blanche as attorney general and the fate of the anti-weaponization fund, which the president said he wishes was not dead.
Camp David, the secluded presidential retreat in Maryland’s Catoctin Mountains, has hosted historic high-stakes negotiations, but Friday’s session was notable for being televised and for Trump’s open attacks on domestic political opponents.
