Gerbera drones wound four in Chernihiv border village

Russian forces struck the border village of Masheve with Gerbera drones, wounding four civilians and damaging two houses, a local official said.

Russian forces struck the border village of Masheve in the Chernihiv region with Gerbera drones on Friday morning, wounding four civilians and damaging residential property, a local official said.

Oleksandr Seliverstov, head of the Novhorod-Siverskyi District Military Administration, reported the attack on Facebook. “Two explosions reported in Masheve (strikes by Gerbera-type UAVs),” he wrote.

“As a result of the strikes on a private residential property, two houses and a farm building sustained significant damage, and four residents were injured (three women, aged 65, 24, and 74, and a 73-year-old man),” Seliverstov said.

Seliverstov added that at least 31 explosions were reported in the district’s border settlements over the past 24 hours, underscoring the intensity of daily attacks on communities along Ukraine’s northern frontier with Russia. Russian troops also shelled the Chernihiv region five times over the past day, with one strike damaging a high-rise building, according to regional reports.

The Chernihiv region, which borders Russia and Belarus, has been subjected to relentless cross-border shelling and drone attacks since the start of the full-scale invasion. Villages like Masheve in the Semenivka community sit directly on the border, and local authorities have repeatedly documented strikes on private homes, farms, and civilian infrastructure.

Gerbera drones are low-cost Russian unmanned aerial vehicles increasingly used by Moscow’s forces for strikes and reconnaissance along the border. Their use has grown over the past year as Russian troops seek to pressure Ukrainian border communities and stretch air defenses.

Ukrainian officials have called on allies to provide more air defense systems capable of intercepting the drones, which are often launched in swarms. Regional authorities in Chernihiv and Sumy have urged residents of border settlements to heed evacuation warnings as attacks intensify.

The four wounded residents were receiving medical care, Seliverstov said, without providing further details on their condition. Emergency teams were working to assess the damage to the affected properties.
