Emergency services rushed to the scene as a blaze broke out at the warehouse, with crews working through the night to contain the fire and search for additional victims.
The attack marked the latest in a series of Russian ballistic strikes targeting the Ukrainian capital. Explosions were heard across multiple districts of Kyiv as air defense systems attempted to intercept incoming missiles. The Darnytskyi district warehouse fire was the most significant damage reported, though authorities said information on the full scale of destruction was still being compiled.
Emergency Response Underway
Rescue operations continued at the warehouse site throughout the morning, with the State Emergency Service deploying multiple units to the Darnytskyi district. The Kyiv City Military Administration said relevant services were working at the scene and that the number of victims and extent of structural damage remained under investigation.
The attack fits a pattern of Russian strikes using ballistic missiles against Ukrainian urban centers, which Kyiv and Western allies have condemned as indiscriminate targeting of civilian infrastructure. Ballistic missiles, which travel at hypersonic speeds, leave defenders very little time to react once detected.
Broader Escalation Across Ukraine
The Kyiv strike came alongside continued Russian attacks across multiple Ukrainian regions. Ukrainian forces reported 16 clashes along the front in the past 24 hours, with Russian artillery and drone strikes affecting populated areas in the Kharkiv, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk regions. Air defense units destroyed 12 Shahed-type attack drones overnight.
Separately, Ukrainian forces struck back deep inside Russia, hitting the Novokuybyshevsk oil refinery in Samara Oblast and an Ozon logistics warehouse in a continued campaign against Russian energy and economic targets.
