Bitwise Launches Tokenized Stock Portfolios on Base

The $9 billion crypto asset manager debuts automated portfolios of Coinbase tokenized US stocks, letting non-US investors hold Mag 7, AI and robotics baskets in their wallets.

Bitwise Asset Management launched Automated Token Portfolios on Tuesday, offering eligible investors outside the US the ability to hold and automatically rebalance baskets of tokenized US equities directly in their crypto wallets.

The products, called ATPs, use Coinbase recently debuted tokenized US stocks on the Base blockchain. Portfolio technology provider Glider handles the rebalancing based on models designed by Bitwise. The initial lineup includes three thematic portfolios targeting the Magnificent Seven plus SpaceX, AI leaders, and robotics companies.

Self-Custody Meets Professional Models

Unlike traditional ETFs or pooled funds where investors hand over assets to a manager, ATPs let holders keep the individual tokenized stocks in their own non-custodial wallets while software adjusts the portfolio to follow Bitwise models.

“For over a century, getting a professional model meant handing your assets to a fund. ATPs mean you can keep the assets in your own wallet, and the model comes to you,” said Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan.

The Mag 7 portfolio equally weights Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, Tesla, and SpaceX. The AI Leaders portfolio adds Sandisk to that mix. The Robotics portfolio focuses on Tesla, Nvidia, and Amazon. All three carry a 0.15% methodology access fee, exclusive of trading and Glider platform fees.

Tokenization Beyond Stock Trading

The launch comes a day after Coinbase debuted tokenized versions of Apple, Nvidia, Meta, and Alphabet on Base, with more stocks expected. Bitwise ATPs demonstrate how tokenization can enable portfolio management services that go beyond simply recreating stock trading on blockchain rails.

Since the tokens remain in wallets, investors may be able to lend or borrow against them on DeFi protocols, subject to applicable risks. The products are available through the Glider platform to eligible non-US users in supported jurisdictions.

The move expands Bitwise beyond crypto ETFs, for which the $9 billion asset manager is best known. Earlier this year, Bitwise partnered with Morpho to launch curated DeFi vaults and made its model portfolios available to retail investors through Parrot platform.
