Israeli warplanes struck targets across the Gaza Strip on Friday night and into Saturday, killing at least two Palestinians and wounding more than a dozen others, hours after Hamas agreed to a US-brokered draft peace deal that would see it disarm.
In Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, Mahmoud Mohammed Fatayer, 33, died from wounds sustained in an Israeli strike on Abu Arif Street, while Mohammed Abdel Nasser al-Khatib, 38, was killed in a separate strike on Salah al-Din Street northeast of the city, medical sources and witnesses told Anadolu Agency.
Ten Palestinians were injured when an Israeli airstrike hit a residential building east of the Nuseirat refugee camp, according to the Al-Awda Hospital. Witnesses said Israeli warplanes destroyed a multi-story building belonging to the Al-Hawajri family after intelligence services warned residents by phone to evacuate.
Another strike destroyed a home in the south of Deir al-Balah, injuring several people. In Khan Younis, several Palestinians were wounded, some critically, when a drone struck a group of civilians in the Al-Maslah area west of the city, and two others were hurt when military vehicles opened fire near the Al-Alam and Abu Hamid roundabouts. Four Palestinians were injured in a strike on the Al-Saftawi neighborhood in northern Gaza City, and a woman and a child were wounded northwest of the city.
The attacks came one day after US President Donald Trump announced that an agreement had been reached for the complete disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza, with Israeli forces set to withdraw in phases as the process advances. Al Jazeera reported that the attacks killed at least two Palestinians and wounded at least 10 others within hours of Hamas accepting the draft deal drawn up by Trump’s Board of Peace.
Despite a ceasefire that took effect on Oct. 10, 2025, Israel has continued near-daily attacks across Gaza, killing 1,209 Palestinians and injuring 3,943 others, most of them women and children, according to Anadolu. The broader war, which began on Oct. 8, 2023, has killed more than 73,000 Palestinians and destroyed about 90 percent of the enclave’s infrastructure.
The strikes underscore the fragility of the disarmament plan, which requires Hamas to lay down its weapons in phases while Israel withdraws, and which Israel has not yet formally accepted. Mediators had been awaiting Israel’s response as international actors reacted with cautious optimism to the agreement.
