The figures represent the most detailed casualty disclosure from Kyiv in months. Zelenskyy contrasted Ukraine’s losses with what he described as Russian losses of up to 700,000 killed, citing official General Staff data. The casualty ratio, if accurate, would underscore the significantly higher price Moscow has paid in its full-scale invasion.
The disclosure is notable because Ukraine has historically been reluctant to release specific casualty numbers, citing concerns about morale and operational security.
