Ukraine’s Armed Forces repelled 189 combat clashes with Russian forces over the past 24 hours, with the heaviest fighting concentrated on the Pokrovsk axis, where Russian troops launched 26 separate assault operations.
The General Staff reported in its Wednesday evening operational update that Russian forces carried out 70 airstrikes, dropping 224 guided aerial bombs (KABs), while launching 6,564 kamikaze drones alongside 2,260 shelling attacks on populated areas across Ukraine.
Pokrovsk Absorbs the Brunt
On the Pokrovsk axis, Ukrainian defenders repelled 26 enemy attacks targeting positions near Nikanorivka, Mayak, Myroliubivka, Novoekonomichne, Rodynske, Hrodivka, Sukhyi Yar, Lysivka, Chunishyne, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novomykolaivka, Horikhove, and Dachne. Fighting continued in several areas as of the time of reporting. Russian losses in this sector alone included at least 33 killed and 15 wounded, according to preliminary estimates.
The Pokrovsk axis has remained the most contested stretch of the frontline for months, with Russian forces massing up to 100,000 troops in the area, according to President Zelenskyy. The city sits at a critical rail junction controlling logistics routes to Kramatorsk and deeper into Donetsk Oblast.
Widespread Frontline Pressure
Beyond Pokrovsk, the Kostiantynivka axis also saw heavy engagement, with Ukrainian forces repelling 16 enemy assaults near Kostiantynivka, Illinivka, and Shakhove, and toward Dovha Balka, Pavlivka, Vilne, and Kucheriv Yar. Several clashes remained ongoing as of the update.
On the Novopavlivka sector, Ukrainian troops repelled eight attacks near Yalta, Zelenyi Hai, Voskresenka, Shevchenko, and Komyshuvakha, with four engagements still underway. The Orikhiv sector saw two Russian advances attempted near Plavni and toward Pavlivka, both repelled.
Overall, Russian forces lost an estimated 1,480 troops over the 24-hour period, bringing total documented losses since the start of the full-scale invasion in February 2022 to approximately 1,472,640 personnel, according to the General Staff.
Massive Kyiv Barrage Compounds Pressure
The fighting on the frontlines coincided with a massive Russian missile and drone attack on Kyiv and the surrounding region overnight, killing at least 14 people and injuring more than 40. Ukrainian air defenses neutralized 39 cruise missiles, two Banderol loitering munitions, and 145 drones during the barrage.
The dual pressure of relentless frontline assaults and deep-strike campaigns on Ukrainian cities continues to strain both military and civilian resources, even as Ukrainian forces report inflicting significant casualties on advancing Russian units across multiple axes.
