Nvidia DLSS 4.5 Set for August Launch at Gamescom

Nvidia confirms Gamescom GeForce On stream for Aug 25 with DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction rollout expected across all RTX GPUs

Nvidia has scheduled its Gamescom 2026 GeForce On Community Update for August 25, with the widely anticipated DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction rollout expected to be the centrepiece of the presentation.

The stream, which will premiere on YouTube and Twitch at 8 AM Pacific Time (17:00 CEST), comes days after DLSS 4.5 files were discovered embedded in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta, suggesting an imminent official release. Nvidia confirmed the date via its official GeForce blog on August 23.

Unified AI Model Replaces Two-Step Pipeline

DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction represents a significant architectural shift for Nvidia’s upscaling technology. Unveiled at Computex 2026 in May, the update merges the previously separate denoising and super-resolution models into a single transformer-based AI network. The result, according to Nvidia, is sharper reflections, fewer smeared textures during camera motion, and more stable image quality in scenes with heavy path tracing.

Critically, DLSS 4.5 runs on every GeForce RTX GPU currently sold, from entry-level RTX 5050 laptops through the RTX 5090 desktop flagship, as well as older RTX 40-series cards. The update arrives through driver patches and individual game integrations, requiring no new hardware purchase.

1,000 RTX Games Milestone and Beyond

Nvidia has also marked the milestone of 1,000 RTX-enabled games and applications, with 11 additional titles confirmed to receive DLSS 4.5 upgrades. The list includes major releases such as Crimson Desert, DOOM: The Dark Ages, and Hogwarts Legacy. Blender 5.3 support for creative applications is expected later in the autumn.

Industry analysts noted the timing alongside console price increases from Microsoft, which raised Xbox Series X and Series S prices by $100 to $150 in August, partly citing rising component and memory costs. The DLSS 4.5 rollout strengthens the value proposition for PC gaming hardware at a moment when console ownership is becoming more expensive.

The Gamescom stream may also cover Reflex 2, the long-delayed low-latency technology announced 18 months ago, as well as DLSS 5 details and updates on RTX Spark, Nvidia’s Arm-based Windows platform unveiled at Computex. First laptops and compact desktops featuring RTX Spark are expected from ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo later this autumn.

With AMD’s FSR still lacking an equivalent unified denoising model and no matching Intel XeSS counterpart on the horizon, DLSS 4.5 gives Nvidia a clear competitive advantage in ray-traced gaming quality through the remainder of 2026.
