A Russian FPV drone struck a minibus carrying passengers in the Nikopol district of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast on Saturday, injuring seven people, including a 16-year-old teenager, Ukrainian officials said.
Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivskyi said the drone hit the minibus about an hour before his statement. “An hour ago, a Russian FPV drone struck a minibus carrying passengers. A deliberate and cynical strike on civilians. As of now, seven people are known to have been injured, including a 16-year-old young man,” he said, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Emergency workers and police evacuated the injured from the danger zone and took them to a medical facility, the ministry said. Early reports indicated that two people were in serious condition.
Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Military Administration, said the incident took place in the Chervonohryhorivka hromada in the Nikopol district, a settlement grouping on the Dnipro River directly opposite territory occupied by Russian forces.
The Nikopol district has been one of the most relentlessly attacked areas of Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion, coming under daily drone and artillery fire from Russian positions on the occupied left bank of the Dnipro. Civilian vehicles, homes, schools and hospitals in the area have been hit repeatedly; in attacks this year, Russian drones struck minibuses in the district in April, June and July, killing and injuring multiple passengers.
Saturday’s attack was one of many on civilians across Ukraine during a day in which Russian forces also launched ballistic missiles at Kyiv, struck warehouses in the Brovary district of Kyiv Oblast, and attacked targets in the Odesa, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, according to regional authorities.
Ukrainian officials have repeatedly condemned strikes on civilian transport as deliberate attacks on non-combatants, and Kyiv has urged Western partners to supply more air defense systems and allow deeper strikes on Russian launch sites. Ukraine has documented thousands of civilian casualties since the full-scale invasion began.
